All five were subset to the Latin range (U+0020 to U+00FF plus general punctuation, arrows and a few symbols) and converted to WOFF2 with fontTools 4.67 (the four older ones on 2026-10-23, Cormorant Garamond on 2026-11-03 with all layout features kept; on 2026-11-04 the two Cormorant files were re-packed with pyftsubset, same glyphs, same tables, same variation data, from 240 and 166 KB to 62 and 47 KB). The OFL permits subsetting and redistribution with the licence text attached, which is done here. The reserved font names are not used as the CSS family names (the site uses "Rushmore Display", "Rushmore Heading", "Rushmore Text", "Rushmore UI" and "Rushmore Clear").

## Artwork

All imagery is original work made for Rushmore Academy and is owned by the school. Nothing is copied from any university's arms, seal or trademark; the marks are drawn in the tradition of academic heraldry, not from any specific coat of arms.

### The arms, the seal, the shield and the monogram (2026-11-03)

Blazon: *Azure, an open book Argent upon a mount of three peaks (a rock) issuant from base Argent, in chief a mullet Or.* The rock is Matthew 7:24 and the school's name; the open book is Scripture resting upon it; the star is the morning star. The motto is *Supra Petram*, "upon the rock". Around the shield, two laurel branches Or; beneath it, a ribbon Argent with the motto.

- `brand/arms.svg` (plus `-ivory` and `-navy` one-colour versions): the full achievement, shield, laurel and motto ribbon. The primary mark.
- `brand/seal.svg` (plus `-ivory`, `-navy`): the roundel seal, the shield within a double ring with the legend RUSHMORE ACADEMY above, SUPRA PETRAM below, and MMXXVI beneath the shield. Used for the landing ceremony and the footer.
- `brand/shield.svg` (plus `-ivory`, `-navy`): the escutcheon alone, for headers, favicons and small sizes. `brand/crest.svg` is a copy kept for older references.
- `brand/monogram.svg` (plus `-ivory`, `-navy`): R and A in Cinzel capitals under a small star within a ring.
- `brand/wordmark-horizontal.svg`, `brand/wordmark-stacked.svg` (plus `-ivory`): lockups of the shield or arms with RUSHMORE ACADEMY in tracked Roman capitals, a hairline rule and the motto.
- `/icon.svg`, `/icon-192.png`, `/icon-512.png`, `/favicon.ico`: the shield on an ink square.

Every mark is hand-built SVG geometry generated by `scripts/brand-gen.py` (Python, fontTools): the shield's field carries horizontal hairline hatching (the engraver's convention for azure), the rock is drawn as facets with diagonal hatching at two densities, and the laurel is built leaf by leaf. The letterforms on the ribbon, the seal's legend and the wordmarks are Cinzel outlines converted to paths at weight 600 (permitted by the OFL), so the files need no font. Rerun the script to regenerate the set.

### Landing page scenery (`/welcome.html`)

Four SVG ridgelines generated from layered sine curves, CSS gradient skies in slate that warm toward dawn with scroll, CSS radial-gradient mist, an inline SVG star field, an inline SVG hairline pattern laid over the ridges for an engraved texture, and an inline SVG `feTurbulence` grain. No photographs are used.

### Open-access artwork on the landing page (2026-11-04)

The hero, the four full-bleed windows and the six plates on `/welcome.html` are reproductions of public-domain works of art from museum open-access programmes, treated for the web by `scripts/treat-images.js` (deliberate crop, grayscale tone-mapped into the house palette, gentle grain, vignette, AVIF, WebP and JPEG at responsive widths, a blur-up placeholder) and placed by slot id by `scripts/place-imagery.js`. The licence evidence for every source (the API flag or file-page statement read on the retrieval date, the collection, the accession number, the credit line and the source URL) is in `content/imagery/sources.json`; the derivatives and the works they come from are listed in `imagery/manifest.json`; the public credits page is `/credits.html`, generated from the same records. Only public domain and CC0 material is used:

The Art Institute of Chicago, the Royal Collection and the Louvre's own image server are cited for study in the style bible but no image was taken from them. No stock, NASA or library photographs are used. If any image is added later, record the source URL, the licence (public domain or CC0 only) and the date in `content/imagery/sources.json` before publishing.

### The neoclassical art library (2026-11-04)

`art/` holds the site's illustrations, drawn in the neoclassical idiom set out in `docs/visual-style-bible.md` (the manner of David's academic studies, Leonardo's chalk and ink sheets, Flaxman's outlines and Piranesi's etched architecture): full-bleed layered scenes (the hero, an ideal landscape at dawn with the three-peaked rock of the arms beside a ruined Doric temple, a round temple on the middle ridge, cypresses and stone pines, laurel boughs framing the corners; a domed temple of learning with an Ionic portico; a library hall with a bas-relief frieze, arches of books and a draped desk; a hand press in a stone workshop with a Palladian window; an armillary sphere under the constellations), nine plates in sepia and sanguine on toned paper (the scholar's desk, the Mediterranean chart, the ship, a tiered Pharos lighthouse, the forge, an Italian garden, the open Bible on a draped cloth, a notebook study of a helix and a cell, a circle-and-square proportion study with compass), twelve strand emblems drawn as engraved cameos within a gold ring, and two ornaments. Every file is generated by `scripts/make-art.js` (deterministic, seeded, no fonts, no text, no external references): contour of modulated weight, cross-hatching for shadow, soft gradients for air, drapery built from hatched folds, Doric and Ionic columns, pediments, coffered domes, friezes of wreath, urn, lyre, torch and patera. No faces; the only figures are small silhouettes for scale. `art/manifest.json` lists each file with its alt text, its kind and the slot it fills, so an approved generated image can replace any piece later without a layout change. Original work, owned by the school; no AI image provider was used. The classical sources were studied from public museum collection records (the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Royal Collection); nothing is copied from any work.
